Hi everyone, and welcome to my blog! I’ll get to the purpose of this blog in a moment, but first, a bit about me…<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My Ph.D. had me mainly working in MATLAB, and then in my career as a software consultant, I spent most of my time writing Excel VBA and XSLT. (I know, right?) The reasons for this kind of make sense in hindsight, but these languages aren’t particularly useful in the 21st Century.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, this all changed in 2017 when our core software got itself a Python API, and with that, I suddenly had the whole Python ecosystem to play with! Pandas, Flask, NetworkX, Pint, and the built-in HTTP Server are a few of the packages that I used to develop some really cool applications over a period of around 2 years. I had caught the Python bug, and I was hooked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, as they say, all good things must come to an end, and since the beginning of 2020, my role has transitioned into something much less technical. As a result, I am no longer able to scratch my Python itch as a part of my job, so I’m writing more in my free time instead. This blog is a way for me to talk about what I get up to, and to replace the problem solving and collaboration I used to enjoy at work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When I’m not writing Python, I spend my free time exploring the various restaurants around Indianapolis and Carmel with my wife, cycling around Hamilton, Tipton, and Clinton counties, running up and down the Monon Trail, and walking my crazy golden retriever Rowdy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
